A vehicle key has two halves to it. There is the metal blade that turns in the door and ignition, and there is the electronics inside that the immobiliser has to recognise. Get one right and not the other and you have a key that either will not turn or will not start.

Cutting happens at your address rather than being posted off to a workshop, which is what keeps most jobs to a single appointment.

Appointments are booked in advance. This is not a 24 hour or emergency callout service, and roadside lockouts are not covered. Call or message with your vehicle details and we will arrange a time that suits you.

Standard edge cut

The traditional toothed blade found on older cars, vans and classics.

Laser and sidewinder

Milled channel blades used across most modern vehicles, cut on a dedicated machine.

Flip and switchblade keys

Folding keys given a new blade and rebuilt, keeping the original electronics where they are sound.

Snapped and worn blades

A broken blade replaced and the working fob transferred, rather than buying a whole new key.

No key to copy

Cutting without an original

Where no key survives, a blade can often still be produced by reading the vehicle lock or by obtaining the key code against your ownership paperwork. Whether that key can then be programmed to start the engine is a separate matter that varies by make, so ring first and get the vehicle checked.

Key cutting questions

Do you cut the key as well as program it?
Yes. Blades are cut here rather than sent away, so the cutting and the coding happen in the same visit.
What is a laser or sidewinder key?
It is a blade with a milled channel down the face rather than teeth on the edge, used on most vehicles built in the last fifteen years or so. It needs a different cutting machine, which is carried on the van.
Can you cut a key from the lock if I have no key at all?
On many vehicles yes, by reading the door lock or by obtaining the key code against proof of ownership. Whether the resulting key can then be programmed is the separate question, and depends on the make.
Do you cut keys that are not for vehicles?
No. This is a vehicle only service. House and padlock keys are not covered.
My key blade is snapped but the fob still works. Can you help?
Usually yes. A snapped blade can often be replaced and the working electronics moved across, which is cheaper than a whole new key.
